Pennsylvania's ambient composer Ben Cox gave an excellent approximation of
Brian Eno's ambient music with his album
On Water (Lotuspike, 2004).
Anhinga is a gentle rainfall of discrete piano notes drawing up a
familiar (ancestral) melody. The same trick is repeated (with guitar instead
of piano and a more complex algorithm) in Grebe.
The ticking of the piano in
Willet is the sound of silence, with distant rumbling of thunder.
The soaring trumpet of Plover introduces a new element to ambient music.
On the other hand, the harsh guitar tones of Merganser are hardly
soothing: more like disorienting.
