Jackalope

I Jackalope furono uno dei primi ensemble di world-music improvvisata, e certamente il primo a promuovere le sonorità dei pellerossa. A guidarli è il flautista Carlos Nakai.

Sul primo disco flauti, trombe e un arsenale di strumenti "nativi" si integravano con la chitarra e il sintetizzatore per rifondare il folk sudista (Coyote Mint), per rileggere la musica orientale (Lord Fumamota) e per inventare nuovi schemi ritmici (Festival Of The Cows, Roadkill). Il secondo album propone le stesse idee in un contesto appena più commerciale, avvicinandosi al jazz (Iron Car) e al folk latino (Mex-Sal), ma sempre attraverso la lente delle tradizioni "native" (Dog Soldier).

Anni dopo il gruppo proverà con Dances With Rabbits a sfruttare il momento di popolarità di Nakai.

Music has been a passion throughout Erin Jacobsen's life. She was first drawn to play piano as a young child, and her attraction to the instrument has driven her to a largely self-taught command of her music. A deep sense of spirituality has enhanced the natural talent of this emerging artist, whose compositions inspire inner reflection and peace. The important role of music in Erin's life full awoke in 1990, while studying for her Masters Degree at the University of Hawaii. She explored both music theory and performance there, touring throughout Hawaii as part of a keyboard ensemble. At that time she began composing her own work, drawing upon her deep personal connection to the islands. Her debut release, Hour of the Pearl, represents a hard-won personal triumph for Erin in her pursuit of Spiritual Truth.
