Violini virtuosa Vicki Richards debuted with the
Indian-inspired
Parting the Waters (Third Stream, 1989 - Coconut Grove, 1998).
Her violin duets with guitar, tablas and other percussion instruments concocting
a spiritual fusion of styles,
like a jazz version of the Third Ear Band and Popol Vuh, via
both evocative watercolors
(Endless Radiance, Dance for Jaco, Monsoon)
world-music vignettes (Parting the Waters)
and avantgarde solos (Skater's Dream, Logarhythm).
It was followed by
Temple Dwellers (Temple Street Music, 1999), another meeting of east
and west, jazz, raga, new-age and classical, and
Time In Between (2000), with Amit Chatterjee.
