| This is how it started, at 6:10am of May 25,
2001, an hour after sunrise: the very steep (and very fast) South Kaibab trail to the
Colorado river.

This is what was behind me (the south rim), in
the middle of the canyon (i.e., along the trail) and in front of me (the north rim).
