The Alabama Hills are located in Lone Pine (California). They are a sort of mix of Monument Valley, Arches and Joshua Tree parks . They are vastly underrated because they are not a park (not even a state park) and they are dwarfed by the Eastern Sierra mountains (notably Mt Whitney) behind them. There are well-maintained dirt roads to drive around if you don't want to hike (hiking requires good tolerance to sunshine because there is absolutely no shelter).
