Career Summary:

Giorgio Gandellini has over twenty years’ experience as a teacher, researcher, manager and consultant to various firms, private and public institutions, both in his home country (Italy) and abroad.

In these capacities, he has worked in Armenia, Belgium, Cuba, France, Germany, Italy, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uruguay, USA, Uzbekistan.

After having held managerial positions in two Italian multinationals, in Italy and France, he started his own independent consulting activity, working also in association with other well-known consulting firms and institutions (Codd & Date, GEA, IFOA, MATE, Net Working, Studio Ambrosetti).

Over the last fifteen years he has been working, in particular, as a teacher and consultant for IFOA (http://www.ifoa.it), the Management Education and Consulting firm of the Chambers of Commerce of the Emilia Romagna Region (one of the largest management education and training institutions in Italy, with several subsidiaries in the Country and many correspondents abroad).

With IFOA, he has conceived, promoted and managed various innovative projects, especially in the area of information technology supports for training and education in strategic and international marketing: small expert systems, multimedia, business games, integrated business planning packages, automated questionnaires and check-ups, groupware platforms and distance learning programs.

In his capacity of Academic Dean, he participated in the promotion, design, accreditation, launching and delivering (for several years) of a University Diploma in International Business Marketing, jointly developed by IFOA and the Cardiff Institute of Higher Education, accredited by the University of Wales, and was in charge for many years of the design, development and delivery of short courses on strategic and international management for SMEs, in conjunction with other European partners, on behalf of the European Union.

He is currently in charge of the design and development of a new Distance Learning Master Program for the Internationalization of Italian SMEs. Within the context of this program, he designed and developed a multimedia package on international marketing and an interactive business game on export strategy (co-authored). He also coordinates the Internet Marketing Planning area of the new University Diploma in Marketing, Sales and e-Commerce. For the International Marketing Division of IFOA he manages and delivers short seminars and workshops for teachers of marketing and quantitative methods.

Within the context of his consulting and teaching assignments in Russia and the former Soviet Union countries (that he successfully contributed to promote) he was frequently involved in teaching to academics of various public institutions.

In addition to his management education and consulting activity (on average, he teaches to about 100 owners or executives of SMEs every year and co-ordinates consulting assistance to some of them), he is involved in several research projects on the impact of information technologies and e-commerce on the international competitiveness of SMEs.

Before expanding his research and teaching activities in Europe, Giorgio was a Business Policy and International Marketing teacher and consultant in the U.S.A., where he coordinated and taught MBA courses for young entrepreneurs involved in several incubator programs (at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and the Gordon Institute in Wakefield, MA) and, more recently, MBA courses on International Marketing and Business Planning at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, CA.

For many years, he has also been involved in teaching to managers, executives and senior executives of large multinational firms (such as AT&T, FIAT, Olivetti, Pirelli), both in Italy and in the United States. He currently teaches on a permanent basis to managers and executives of IBM Italy and conducts management education and consulting projects (especially in the area of international business planning of services to SMEs) for major Italian and European public institutions such as the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE), Unioncamere (the Italian network of Chambers of Commerce) and the European Commission.

During his career, he coordinated the design and realization of many quantitative and qualitative marketing research projects for consumer goods, industrial components, machinery, equipment and services.
