Even if you’ve never seen one of the Harry Potter movies, you probably remember the whole hullabaloo about Daniel Radcliffe (who plays Harry) having a nude scene in a play in London’s West End. Well that play was Equus, and it’s coming to New York City. Radcliffe has also reportedly signed on to come across the pond for the Broadway engagement, and you can bet that will boost sales of Equus tickets. The original Equus play debuted back in 1973, and during its run it featured stars like Anthony Perkins, Richard Burton and Peter Firth. The recent London revival proved to be a big hit, and that sets it up as one of the most anticipated new Broadway shows of 2008.
Equus might not appeal to all tastes, but the beauty of Broadway is that there really is something for everyone. One of the most successful shows in recent years, Wicked, is also one of the most unique. When Wicked first opened in 2003, it actually received a fair number of bad reviews, but apparently audiences felt differently and the incredible popularity of Wicked show tickets has proven that the critics are not always right. The musical, which is set before the familiar story of The Wizard of Oz, ended up winning 10 Tony Awards, and Wicked tickets continue to sell out on Broadway and around the country as the Wicked national tour hits major cities from coast to coast. The musical is now on its way to international success with productions in Tokyo, Germany and Australia.
And if you want to see a musical that really is a musical in every sense of the word, then Jersey Boys tickets are the way to go. Like Wicked, Jersey Boys is a relatively new show that cleaned up at the Tony Awards and has been selling out night after night. Even if you are not old enough to remember when Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons hit the music scene in the 1960s, you are sure to enjoy Jersey Boys.
