Paris-based Cameroonian multi-instrumentalist Francis Bebey
(born Francisco Birago Diop), also an artist
and a novelist, initially created Afro-pop songs that mixed the guitar and
African instruments, notably on
Concert Pour Un Vieux Masque (1968).
Later he crafted
electronic Afro-funk songs for keyboards and drum-machines.
African Electronic Music 1975-1982 (Born Bad, 2012) is a compilation.
