Luka Bloom is Barry Moore, younger brother of Irish folk legend Christy Moore. Bloom moved to New York and recorded a pensive Riverside (Reprise, 1990) before returning to Ireland and starting his major career with The Acoustic Motorbike (Reprise, 1992), an album that, contrary to the title, is arranged with a drum machine and absorbs American influences (such as rap). Turf (Reprise, 1994) is a simpler work.
