Avail is the Richmond (Virginia) hardcore band
of vocalist Tim Barry and guitarist Joe Banks.
They debuted with the naive but powerful
Satiate (Lookout, 1994) and
Dixie (Lookout, 1994 - Jade Tree, 2006).
The transitional
4 AM Friday (Lookout, 1996 - Jade Tree, 2006)
and the
Live at the Bottom of the Hill (Lookout, 1998)
refined their approach, and led to the
energetic and spirited
Over the James (Lookout, 1998 - Jade Tree, 2006), probably their best (Fifth Wheel).
The band moved to a less confrontational level with the
less supercharged although more variegated One Wrench (Fat Wreck, 2000)
and
Front Porch Stories (Fat Wreck, 2002).
