Junior Brown came out of the Austin scene of country music with a guitar
that he himself had invented and a style that crossed country, pop and rock.
His guitar playing turned 12 Shades of Brown (Demon, 1990) into one
of the most inventive country albums of all times
(My Baby Don't Dance To Nothing But Ernest Tubb,
Too Many Nights in a Roadhouse).
Guit With It (Curb, 1993) includes the 11-minute Guit-Steel Blues,
which is even less conventional.
Both Semi Crazy (Curb, 1996) and Long Walk Back (Curb, 1998) were
disappointing.
