The Crabs, a lo-fi guitar-drum duo from Eugene (Oregon), John Lunsford and
Lisa Jackson, surfaced with the
charming singles Dreamboat and Sore.
Far less minimalist than advertised, Jackpot (K, 1995) falls into the
power-pop category
(Swallow The Sea, Alien Girl, She Is A Titan).
The problem with Brainwashed (K, 1996) is very simple: the best track
is an instrumental (Prom Night), which proves that the duo has
musical skills but also can't write a good song.
A couple of ditties from
What Were Flames Now Smolder (K, 1997),
namely Love And Hate and Debutante,
show progress.
Sea and Sand (K, 1999)
is graced by the addition of organist Sarah Dougher
(Tumbling Away).
