A rivelarli e` l'album Deicide (Roadrunner, 1990), un'opera di una compettezza impressionante, dominata dal registro invasato di Benton, mentre il baccanale di sottofondo e` piuttosto convenzionale (accordi anonimi delle due chitarre, pestaggio meccanico della batteria). Dalla massa di male parole emergono il galoppo di Sacrificial Suicide e l'epilessi di Deicide. Vertice di effettismo macabro e` Dead By Dawn, e la visione piu` ributtante si trova in Carnage In The Temple Of The Damned.

Legion (Roadrunner, 1992) rafforza la loro posizione di predominio nell'heavymetal satanico, che raramente ha vantato esponenti cosi` convinti. Fra formule magiche (Satan Spawn The Caco-Daemon) e vaneggiamenti mistici (Behead The Prophet) ogni tanto la formazione indovina anche un'armonia interessante (In Hell I Burn). Ma troppo raramente questa esibizione di truculenza diventa anche un fatto musicale.

Their art of fast and minimal riffs became more technical with Serpents of The Light (Roadrunner, 1997), an album that turns death metal into a serious art. The angular and abrasive edges of the past are toned-down and songs flow relatively smoothly. Unfortunately, the best material (Serpents Of The Light, Blame It On God) sounds like a repetition of the previous albums, so much so that one could deem this one a remix album.

Insineratehymn (Roadrunner, 2000) creates a few detours by enhancing the grooves and adding solos. Not much else happens in Standing In The Flames, Bible Basher, Remnant of A Hopeless Path, Worst Enemy, songs that continue to explore the same terrority. The closing Refusal of Penance sounds like a tribute to their own sound.

The most notable thing about Scars of the Crucifix (Earache, 2004) is how little Deicide changed over the years.

The Stench Of Redemption (2006), with new guitarist Jack Owen and Ralph Santolla replacing the Hoffman brothers, introduced a more melodic, malleable and emotional version of Deicide.

Once Upon The Cross (Roadrunner, 1995) raccoglie nove pezzi, in meno di trenta minuti. I buon vecchi tempi sono tornati: When Satan Rules His World, They Are The Children Of The Underworld and To Be Dead strutturato per migliorare la violenza sonora del primo album, rendendolo più attrattivo alle masse.

La loro arte di riff veloci e minimali diventa più tecnica con Serpents of The Light (Roadrunner, 1997), un album che proietta il death metal in un' arte seria. I bordi angolari ed abrasivi del passato sono attenuati e le canzoni fluiscono relativamente uniformemente. Purtroppo, il materiale migliore (Serpents Of The Light, Blame It On God) sembra una ripetizione degli album precedenti, così tanto in modo che uno possa ritenere questo un remix album.

Insineratehymn (Roadrunner, 2000) genera alcune deviazioni, con l' aumentano di grooves ed assoli. Non accade altrimenti in Standing In The Flames, Bible Basher, Remnant of A Hopeless Path, Worst Enemy, pezzi che continuano ad esplorare lo stesso territorio. La conclusiva Refusal of Penance suona come un tributo al loro stesso sound.

La cosa più notevole di Scars of the Crucifix è come i Deicide abbiano cambiato così poco nel corso degli anni.
