The Demolition Doll Rods were formed in Detroit by
Dan Kroha of the Gories (shifting from drums to
guitar and wearing a drag-queen costume) and debuted with the single
African Lipstick (Bulb, 1995).
Surrounded by two cute girls (singer Margaret typically dancing on stage
in her underwear), Kroha delivers the usual blend of punk-rock and garage-rock
with more than a nod to the Cramps.
Motor City Dragway and If You Can't Hang are the highlights from
Tasty (In The Red, 1997).
TLA (Matador, 1999) displays a little more variety and musicality
amidst the wild primitivism, but the trio still excels at adrenaline-drenched
rockers like Fast One, Sex Machine, Rock It Up.
Unfortunately, On (Swami, 2004) is only filler.
There Is A Difference (2006) leaned towards the traditionals (notably,
spirituals).
