Polyphemus is the project of a Brian Leary who operates from the desert east of San Diego. Heavily inspired by Byrds and Who, Leary writes songs that bring back the hippie era's mellow side. Elvira Carrol sings and gives the music an even more ethereal quality. The EP The Great Village Trip had the advantage of the surprise, whereas Scrapbook Of Madness (Placebo, 1993 - Beggars Banquet, 1994), with the single Masses Of Tiny Dots, and Stonehouse (Beggars Banquet, 1996) sink under the stereotypes they worship, despite Leary's efforts at layering guitar sounds.
