Samiam,
fronted by the twin guitars of Sergie Loobkoff
James Brogan,
were part of the "Gilman Street" scene of Berkeley.
Their early albums, Samiam (1990), Soar (1991) and
Billy (1992), went largely unnoticed as it offered passionate but
rather
generic Bad Religion-esque anthems.
Clumsy (1994) emphasized their melodic skills, perhaps trying to repeat
Green Day's commercial feat (Capsized).
Samiam pursued that course with
You Are Freaking Me Out (1998), unreleased for two years, and its
straightforward punk ditties (She Found You, Mud Hill).
Astray (2000) was still a decent take on the genre, but
Whatever's Got You Down (2006) and
Trips (2011) were hardly distinctive.
