Hocico were formed in 1993 in Mexican by vocalist Erk Aicrag and keyboardist
Racso Agroyam and soon became the leading "electro" (EBM) project south of the
border.
The cassettes Autoagresion Persistente (1994) and
Triste Desprecio (1996) introduced their brutal, abrasive, visceral
sound.
Odio Bajo El Alma (Opcion Sonica, 1997) already contains some dancefloor
classics, drenched in rage and disgust:
Final Resource,
Hell on Earth,
Temple of Lies,
Sexo Bajo Testosterona.
El Dia De La Ira (Opcion Sonica, 1998) could be their most impeccable
release. Only six songs (including Devouring Rage and
Odio en el Alma) but penned with extreme care and passion.
Cursed Land (Out of Line, 1998), their first "english" album, is
equally elegant and blaspheme (Banished).
Los Hijos del Infierno (Out of Line) is a live album.
Sangre Hirviente (Out Of Line, 1999) was their most disco-friendly album
(Spit as an Offense, Distorted Face, Espinas del Mal).
The EP Aqui y Ahora en el Silencio (Out Of Line, 2000) is an appendix
to the album that includes Starving Children
Signos de Aberracion (Out of Line, 2002) has good
instrumentals (Pandemonium, Child's eternity) and
fierce songs
(Untold Blasphemies, Bloodshed), but can't match the furor of
the early releases.
