Sudanese singer-songwriter Rasha (who relocated to Spain in 1991) debuted with Sudaniyat (1997), a mishmash of jazz, pop, reggae and American dance music that achieved pan-ethnic pathos in the tracks arranged with an orchestra of violins, accordion, saxophones, oud and percussion, but she then converged towards the mellower sound of Sade on Let Me Be (2001).
