Chicago's emocore outfit Academy Is started off as a poppier version of
Fall Out Boy on
Almost Here (2005).
They tried to evolve towards a broader stylistic range on
Santi (2007), but mostly wasted the talent that they had convincingly
displayed on their debut album.
Fast Times At Barrington High (2008) is a rather awkward collection, whose
best moments
(His Girl Friday, About a Girl) seem to owe more to producers
S*A*M & Sluggo (Sam Hollander and Dave Katz). The rest is occasionally
amusing (Coppertone, Beware Coughar) but hardly memorable.
