Beyond Dawn is an innovative Norwegian doom-metal band that wed the cliches
of the genre to the new sonic tapestry of their generation (ambient, trip-hop,
etc).
A trombone already enhanced the concept on Pity Love (Candlelight, 1995),
but Revelry (Misanthropy, 1998) took the novelty to another level by
incorporating Swans' intuition of an hyper-dark
expressionist gloom, lending the music a noir feeling.
Electric Sulking Machine (Peaceville, 2001) marked a turn towards
calm, melancholy, melodic music, with electronics penning the key moments.
Arranged with more electronic instruments,
Frysh (Peaceville, 2003) basically coined a new kind of ambient music.
