The Cribs, an English combo fronted by Gary and Ryan Jarman, were the umpth
band to jump on the umpth British neo-pop movement, the one pioneered by
Franz Ferdinand,
Maximo Park and
Futureheads.
The punkish verve displayed on the early
singles Another Number, What About Me, You Were Always the One rapidly vanished on
The Cribs (2004),
The New Fellas (2005) and
Men's Needs Women's Needs Whatever (2007), that progressively moved
towards simpler melodic songs.
Ignore The Ignorant (2009), the first album with guitarist Johnny Marr of the Smiths, clarified where they stood,
ideologically speaking.
