Elected is the project of singer-songwriter Blake Sennett, a former member of Rilo Kiley.

Me First (Subpop, 2004) specializes in slightly-neurotic and sometimes harrowing settings for Sennett's hyper-realistic and autobiographical stories (A Time For Emily, Cmon Mom). Far from being dissonant or hostile, the arrangements are relatively friendly and even neoclassical (Response to Greed). The songs often employ West-coastian vocal harmonies and country-ish rhythms that lend them a sense of dejavu (7 September 2003 evokes CSN&Y and Bob Dylan, Don't Get Your Hopes Up is a deadringer for 1960s' film themes, Waves harks back to the age of country-rock. The album is a rather personal affair, but the music is rather public. The contrast is intruiging.

Sun Sun Sun (Subpop, 2005), played by a real band, sold the product to a broader audience, making it less of a confessional process and more of an entertaining event. Basically, the core of the album are country-pop ditties such as Would You Come With Me and Fireflies In A Steel Mill, that are reminiscent of XTC at their most pastoral.

Bury Me In My Rings (2011) simply lacked decent songs.

Me First (Subpop, 2004) è costruito su montature lentamente neurotiche e talvolta laceranti sulle quali Sennett disegna le sue storie iper-realistiche e autobiografiche (A Time For Emily, Cmon Mom).
