German house producer Rajko "Isolee" Mueller had a hit with
Beau Mot Plague (1997) and spearheaded "microhouse" (a fusion of
glitch aesthetic, minimal techno and house music) with
Rest (2000).
Wearemonster (Playhouse, 2005) is less enjoyable but more faithful
to the microhouse dogma of subtle micro-events rather than grandiose
orchestration. The idea is particularly successful in the
Giorgio Moroder-ian retro-acid tour de force of My Hi-Matic (the
standout),
the dubby Enrico, the bluesy Schrapnell,
the cosmic Pillowtalk.
