Maju is the project of Japanese keyboardist Sakana Hosomi.
Maju-1 (Extreme, 1999) and Maju-2 (Extreme, 2000) explored
the border between ambient music, drum'n'bass and micro-techno music.
Maju-3 (Extreme, 2001) marked a change in style, dispensing with the
most openly dance elements and retreating towards a more psychological survey
of inner soundscapes. While homogenoeous in terms of the instrument/processing
that is involved (purely digital and electronic), the music covers a broad
spectrum, from the ambient amoeba of Resonance Of Forms to
the small noises of Uncarved,
from the dissolving pattern of Acausal Links
to the strident sideral current of Helix,
peaking with the industrial music of the eight-minute Solitary Wave
and the ten-minute subliminal concerto for bubbles and bells of Velocity.
Maju became a duo in 2003 (Masaki Narita
and released Maju-4 (Extreme, 2007).
Sakana Hosomi is also active in Neina, that released Subconsciousness (2000), and in Nullagra.
