Zevious were born as an acoustic guitar trio, as documented on Zevious (2007).
By the time that After the Air Raid (Cuneiform, 2009) came out, they
had evolved into an instrumental power-trio of vibrant and swinging jazz-rock.
The album, mainly composed by guitarist Mike Eber, is dominated by the guitar acrobatics a` la Sonny Sharrock and Nels Cline.
The short pieces range from brainy and fast (Where's the Captain) to
cinematic and impressionistic (Mostly Skulls), from bluesy and sinister
(The Ticket That Exploded) to punkish (Inciting), from sleepy and trippy (Gradual Decay) to abstract drum-less strumming (After the Air Raid).
