Baltimore's
Jason Urick, who had played with post-rock combo WZT Hearts on their
Heat Chief (2006) and
Threads Rope Spell Making Your Bones (2007)
as well as recorded as Themoonstealingproject,
debuted under his own name with the
gentle disembodied digital ambient music of Husbands (Thrill Jockey, 2009) that perspires peaceful zen-like fatalism.
He then took a detour into acid dub music on
Title King (Watercolor, 2011), a collaboration with
Cex,
and on the EP Fussing & Fighting (Thrill Jockey, 2010).
Relocating to Oregon, Urick sculpted the
psychedelic ambient music of I Love You (Thrill Jockey, 2012).
The eleven-minute Don't Digital and the eight-minute I Love You
resurrect the angelic tones of his debut, while Ageless Isms introduces
murky pop structures.
