Peruvian-born New York-based sound artist and turntablist Maria Chavez first documented her collages of glitch music (based on playing vynil records with defective needles) on Selected Works (2003). After a long hiatus, she released Plays (2019), a reinvention of German producer Stefan Goldmann's Ghost Hemiola (a "double vinyl set of empty locked grooves that contains nothing but its very own surface noise"), the cassette Live at Jewel's Catch One (2020), documenting a live collaboration with lap guitarist Lucas Gorham, and The Kitchen Sessions 1-5 (2021), a collaboration with Jordi Wheeler.
