Tom Dissevelt, originally a pop-jazz pianist, began experimenting with
electronic music in 1956.
He teamed up with artist Dick Raaijmakers (who adopted the moniker
Kid Baltan) and released
The Elektrosoniks (1957), that contains
proto "synth-pop" (electronic pop muzak) such as Song of the Second Moon,
and then
The Fascinating World of Electronic Music (1959).
Raaijmakers also created sculptures and audiovisual installations.
He also composed chamber operas, notably De val van Mussolini (1995).
