Crimea-native pianist Sergey Kuryokhin (1954) became famous in the Leningrad underground as the co-leader of rock band Akvarium/Aquarium with Boris Grebenschikov, but his main claim to fame were the satirical multimedia events of "pop mechanics" that harked back to Dadaism. They released Triangle, Taboo, Radio Africa, Day of Silver, Deti Dekabrya, Pop Mechanics No 17 - Live In Novosibirsk (october 1984 - Leo, 1988) documents a 1983 concert.

His first solo was The Ways of Freedom (april 1981 - Leo, 1981), followed by Introduction To Pop Mechanics (october 1986 - Leo, 1987), Pop Mekhanika Orchestra being the name of his ever-changing ensemble, Popular Zoological Elements (february 1986 - Leo, 1987), Mir - Sovetskiye zvukovye eksperimenty, Ot musyki taet sneg, France, Some Combinations Of Fingers And Passion (june 1991 - Leo, 1992), one of his best solos, Opera Bogatykh, Sparrow Oratorium, Tragedy in rock style , Just Opera, Italy (Solyd Records), Liverpool (Solyd Records), Spectre of Communism (Solyd Records), Davkot (Solyd Records), etc.

Many of his compositions and improvisations appeared on collaboration albums. With Anatoly Vapirov he released Sentenced To Silence (december 1981 - Leo, 1983), Jam Session Leningrad, De Profundis (1981), Invocations (december 1981), Linii sud'by, etc.

Exercises (november 1982) was a collaboration with Vladimir Chekasin and Boris Grebenschikov, and the double-disc album Subway culture (june 1983 - Leo, 1986) was a trio with guitarist Boris Grebenschikov and saxophonist Igor Butman, later renewed on The Third Russian Opera (february 1985). Other collaborations included Fortune Teller (Leo, 1985), Nostalgia, Morning Exercises In The Nuthouse (Soundings of the Planet), Music Makes the Snow Melt Down (Soundings of the Planet), Narod guliyaet, Insect Culture (1987), Kamni Sankt-Peterburga, Popular Science (may 1989 - RykoDisc, 1989), with Henry Kaiser, Mad Nightingales In The Russian Forest (june 1985 - Leo, 1989), an organ-guitar duo with Boris Grebenshikov, Polynesia: Introduction to History, with Sergej Letov, Friends Afar (Long Arms) and Dear John Cage... (Long Arms) with K.Maslak, 2 for Tea (december 1988), with David Moss, I Wish I Was A Bird (may 1995) and Those Were The Days (january 1996 - Hum Ha, 1996), two collaborations with saxophonist Kenny "Keshavan Maslak" Millions.

Divine Madness (Leo) is a 4CD box-set.

Kuryokhin died in July 1996 of a heart disease.

Il pianista Sergey Kuryokhin (1954) nativo della Crimea, divenne famoso nell’Underground di Leningrado,come co-leader di gruppi rock Akvarium/Aquarium con Boris Grebenschikov, ma cio’ che gli rese maggior fama furono gli eventi multimediali/satirici di "pop mechanics" che si rifacevano al Dadaismo. Essi pubblicarono Triangle, Taboo, Radio Africa, Day of Silver, Deti Dekabrya, Pop Mechanics No 17 - Live In Novosibirsk (Leo, 1988) documenta un concerto svoltosi nel 1983.
