Hiking Mt Goode

Mt Goode (3988 m) is a relatively easy peak near Bishop Pass. See this page on how to reach Saddlerock Lake from the South Lake trailhead. Past Saddlerock lake a use-trail leads west towards a cabin. The use-trail dead-ends around there but continue in the same direction, crossing the creek that feeds the lake and heading for the gentle slope to the west. It is not obvious which of the many peaks to the west is the summit but just keep walking west and eventually it will become obvious. There are countless use-trails that lead to Mt Goode. The ascent is pretty uneventful but beware that Goode has two peaks and it's not trivial to traverse from one to the other (you have to descend a peak and then ascend the other one over a deadly gap). Depending whether you start the climb sooner or later, you'll end up on the eastern peak or the western peak. The western peak has a plateau that is perfect for panoramic pictures, notably of the Treasure Lakes.

You can return from the Treasure Lakes: descend back to Saddlerock Lake but before the lake head northwest to the obvious pass. At the top of the pass you'll see Treasure Lakes 5, 4 and 3. Keep heading west after Lake 3 and you'll hit the trail that takes you to Lake 2, 1 and eventually South Lake.
