Dean Elliott, who composed soundtrack music for cartoons such as "Mr Magoo" (in the 1950s) and "Tom and Jerry" (in the 1960s), recorded an album overflowing with sound effects, Zounds! What Sounds! (1962), a collaboration with Phil Kaye, whose instruments include (quote): "cement mixer, air compressor, punching bag, hand saw, thunderstorm, raindrops, celery stalks, 1001 clocks and bowling pins."
