I Left Banke, formati a New York dal cantante e tastierista
Michael Brown (Lookofsky),
esercitarono nel mezzo del baccanale garage-punk ma in realta` furono piu` che
altro un complesso di tardo Mersey-beat aggiornato agli arrangiamenti
orchestrali dei Beach Boys.
Il gruppo ebbe due hit, Walk Away Renee (1966) e Pretty Ballerina (1967), mediocre canzocine alla Beatles che impiegavano piano, flauto, clavicembalo e violini. Il loro stile barocco trionfo` su Walk Away Renee (1967), un album di pop "orchestrale" nella scia di Pet Sounds dei Beach Boys (Barterers And Their Wives, Breaking Over My Head). Il secondo album, Too (1969), contiene ancora There's Gonna Be A Storm.
