Tracy Nelson, a Wisconsin native, debuted with Deep Are The Roots
(Prestige, 1965) during the Chicago blues revival. In San Francisco
she formed the gospel group Mother Earth. Living With The Animals
(Mercury, 1968) features Elvin Bishop and Mark Naftalin, from the Paul
Butterfield Blues Band. Mother Earth then moved to Nashville and took
up country. Nelson launched her solo career with Tracy Nelson (Atlantic,
1974) featuring Down So Low, but the albums that followed are
disappointing. After ten years of silence she came back with In The Here
And Now (Rounder, 1995).
