William Sheller
was a French singer-songwriter who also composed classical music, and
frequently mixed the two genres.
He crafted a hit for Les Irresistibles, a group formed by musicians from the
USA living in Paris, the
Bee Gees-style orchestral elegy
My Year Is A Day (1968), also known as
Dalida's Dans la Ville Endormie.
He also composed film soundtracks, notably Erotissimo (1969).
His artistic peak was Lux Aeterna (1972 - Omni, 2012),
for orchestra, choir and rock band, basically a more symphonic version of
David Axelrod's psychedelic
Mass In F Minor (1968)
composed for the Electric Prunes.
