Tommy Bolin was an "enfant prodige" of the guitar who started playing in a
Denver band, Zephyr (1969). His technique,
inspired by the "fusion" style of Jeff Beck,
was so impressive that he was hired by jazz musicians, notably Billy Cobham,
as well as hard-rock bands.
He composed most of the material on two James Gang's albums,
Bang (1973) and Miami (1974), and on one
Deep Purple album, Come Taste The Band (1976).
His solo albums Teaser (Atlantic, 1975) and
Private Eyes (CBS, 1976) are pyrotechnic displays of his skills.
Bolin died of an overdose at 25 in december 1976.

Tommy Bolin fu un "enfant prodige" della chitarra che comincio' a suonare
con gli Zephyr di Denver (1969). La sua tecnica, ispirata dalla fusion alla
Jeff Beck, era talmente suggestiva da imporlo all'attenzione sia di jazzisti
come Billy Cobham che di gruppi hard-rock. Compose la maggior parte del
materiale di due album della James Gang, Bang (1973) e Miami (1974) e di
Come Taste The Band dei Deep Purple (1976). I suoi lavori solisti, Teaser
(Atlantic, 1975) e Private Eyes (CBS, 1976), mostrano la sua abilita' pirotecnica.
Bolin mori' venticinquenne di overdose nel Dicembre 1976.
