Within the intellectual and politicized environment of the Greenwich Village, Karen Dalton was merely an interpreter of other people's songs, notably Dino Valenti and Fred Neil. Her main assett was a voice with the smoky tone of Billie Holiday, as proven on her debut 1966 (1966 - Delmore, 2012) and even more so on It's So Hard To Tell Who's Going To Love You The Best (1969), the live performance that made her famous.

In My Own Time (1971) veered towards the soul-jazz ballad. The best songs were not hers: Dino Valenti's Something's On Your Mind and the traditionals Katie Cruel and Same Old Man.

1966 (2012) resurrect unreleased rarities.
