Philadelphia-born Jobriath (Bruce Campbell) was launched by a massive marketing campaign as the USA's response to David Bowie's glam-rock with Jobriath (1973). The music was ridicule: the only thing that was truly interesting was his impersonation of the decadent clown, i.e. the costumes of his live shows. The novelty works for just a few months. After another terrible album, Creatures Of The Street (1974), he was wiped out by the new wave. The hype was rapidly forgotten and he died in 1983 of AIDS. (Translation by/ Tradotto da xxx)
