Gilbert Artmann was a French musician who formed the band
Lard Free to play an electronic rock'n'roll similar to
Heldon's.
They recorded Unnamed (1972), released only in 1998,
Lard Free (1973), I'm Around About Midnight (1975), Spirale Malax (1977).
He also invented Urban Sax, an ensemble of percussion and (many many)
saxophones, that used minimalist repetition a` la Terry Riley as the main
compositional technique. They released
Urban Sax 1 (1977), Urban Sax 2 (1978), Paradise Lost (1982), a collaboration with musique concrete pioneer Pierre Henry, Fraction Sur Le Temps (1985), Spiral (1990), To the Happy Few (1993), Urban Sax 93 (1993).
