Sulla scia dei KMFDM risorsero i Die Krupps di Juergen Engler (tastiere) e Ralf
Dorper (chitarra), esorditi nel 1981 all'insegna della cacofonia industriale con la
Stahlwerksymphony. Nonostante una rapida conversione nel 1982 al ballabile elettronico con
Whare Arbeit Wahrer Lohn, Dorper se ne ando` a formare i Propaganda e gli altri erano affondati dopo
Volle Kraft Voraus, in stile Human League, e Entering The Arena del 1984.
Alla fine del decennio Dorper lascio` i Propaganda e riformo` il gruppo con Engler e Ruediger Esch (basso) all'insegna del techno lanciato in Europa dai Front 242. I singoli Germaniac e Machinery Of Joy impongono i Die Krupps nelle discoteche. Il singolo Power annuncia l'album omonimo (per la Our Choice), in cui si avverte lezione di Ministry e Nine Inch Nails (Metal Machine Music), portata a compimento su The Final Option da Crossfire e Paradise Of Sin, mentre il singolo Fatherland continua a sfruttare il boom del techno. To The Hilt, Language Of Reality, New Temptation, Bloodsuckers sono i singoli che li hanno trasformati in eroi per la generazione dell'MTV. While not terribly original, Odyssey Of The Mind (Rough Trade, 1996) is an album with a powerful sound and at least The Last Flood and Isolation rank among their best polyrhythmic ballets. |
