The George-Edwards Group was formed in
Detroit by Raymond George and Edward Balian in 1976 to play mild folk-rock with
synthesizers.
38:38 (1977 - Drag City, 2009) was their only release.
Their unreleased recordings were collected three decades later on
Archives (Drag City, 2011), notably the
Eagles-influenced country-rock ballad Nevada, the
Byrds-ian folk-rock elegy Shattered Heart,
and, at the other end of the spectrum,
the electronic-heavy videogame skit You're Gone.
It all sounds naive and old-fashioned by the standards of the 1980s, no matter
how well executed.
