Naked Prey were formed by Tucson (Arizona) singer and guitarist
Van Christian (after a brief stint in Green On Red as a drummer).
The mini-albnum Naked Prey (Down There, 1984) remains one of the
defining experiences of "desert-rock", the country/psychedelic sound
born out of the southwestern states. At least Flesh On The WallUnder The Blue Marlin (Frontier, 1986) is a modest affair, highlighted
by Voodoo Godhead.
40 Miles From Nowhere (Frontier, 1987) and the live
Kill The Messenger (Fundamental, 1990) closed their career.
Van Christian and occasional guitarist Bill Elm would form
Friends of Dean Martinez.
