No Direction, from
Sioux Falls (South Dakota, but close enough to the border with Minnesota),
debuted with the agit-prop rock'n'roll of No Direction (1984),
but
Becoming Obsession (1986) veered towards the British "dark punk" sound with a subtler sense of melody
and the same political undertone.
Tapes (1988) collects the last recordings.
