The Proclaimers were an acoustic duo out of Scotland during the folk revival of
the late 1980s.
This Is The Story (Chrysalis, 1987) is a timid collection of
melodic ditties in a style sometimes reminiscent of Merseybeat
(Throw The R Away) and sometimes inspired by country-rock
(Letter From America).
They fully adopted the folk-rock idiom with
Sunshine On Leith (Chrysalis, 1988), that, years later, yielded the
hit I'm Gonna Be 500 Miles.
Fame brought a new album,
Hit The Highway (Chrysalis, 1994),
that expanded the Everly Brothers personas with touches of
soul and rockabilly (much like the pub-rock of twenty years before).
There's A Touch is the first single from
Persevere (Nettwerk, 2001).
The (mostly polemic) songs on Life With You (2008) were simply tedious, proving they were little more than a
"one-hit wonder".

I Proclaimers erano un duo acustico che veniva dalla Scozia, nel periodo del folk revival degli ultimi anni ottanta. This Is The Story (Chrysalis, 1987) è una timida raccolta di canzoncine melodiche, in uno stile che ricorda, a volte, il merseybeat (Throw The R Away) e che, talora, si ispira al country-rock (Letter From America). Il gruppo si è dedicato completamente allo stile folk-rock in Sunshine On Leith (Chrysalis, 1988), che dopo alcuni anni gli ha fruttato l’hit I’m Gonna Be 500 Miles. La fama ha portato un nuovo album, Hit The Highway (Chrysalis, 1994), che ha arricchito le imitazioni alla Everly Brothers con un po’ di soul e di rockabilly (proprio come il pub-rock di vent’anni prima).
