Negli anni '80 il tastierista tedesco Robert Schroeder ha dato vita a una saga
elettronica che unisce la sensibilità dell'artista romantico
all'ambizione del ricercatore d'avanguardia.
La suite di
Harmonic Ascendant (Innovative Communications, 1979)
trovò un magico equilibrio fra le due maniere, continuato su
Floating Music (Innovative Communications, 1980),
dalla suite eponima e dall'altro tour de force di Out Of Control.
Questi album vennero seguiti dai piu` scontati Mosaique (Innovative Communications, 1981), il primo a utilizzare anche strumenti non elettronici, Pegasus (Innovative Communications, 1982), poi rinnegato, Galaxie Cygnus-A (Innovative Communications, 1982), una sinfonia in Paradise (Innovative Communications, 1983), Computer Voice (Innovative Communications, 1984). The soundtrack Brain Voyager (Life Style, 1985) is notable for the way it disposes with the grand pathos of cosmic music (Brain Voyager is a simply guitar-driven melody) but most of the vignettes are rather mediocre. The best piece, Love Symphonie, lasts less than three minutes. Gli fece seguito un altro album poco riuscito, Time Waves (Innovative Communications, 1986). I Double Fantasy, titolari di Universal Ave (Innovative Communications, 1986), sono il chitarrista Charly McLion e Robert Schroder che eseguono una forma di jazz-rock d'avanguardia mescolando suoni acustici ed elettronici. Schroder ha poi pubblicato Driftin (Racket, 1988). |
