Tamia Valmont, a French avant-garde singer, released two experimental albums
of vocal music, mostly solos:
Tamia (1978),
containing the lengthy Narcissa Solis and First Polyphony,
and Senza Tempo (1981), containing the
eleven-minute Out of Air and the
eight-minute Stray Wind, on which she sounds like a
mournful Diamanda Galas.
She collaborated with Swiss jazz percussionist Pierre Favre on
Blues For Pedro Arcanjo (T Records, 1983),
De La Nuit Le Jour (ECM, 1988) and
Solitudes (ECM, 1992).
