The UK Subs arrived when punk-rock had already lived its prime, but still
managed to burn a few (sonic) barricades of their own with their early
agit-prop anthems: CID, Tomorrow's Girls,
Warhead, Stranglehold, etc.
The albums were pretty lousy affairs, full of filler and blatantly inept
playing, but Another Kind Of Blues (Gem, 1979) had all the verve
of that era and Brand New Age (Gem, 1980) casted
Brand New Age and Emotional Blackmail.
Diminished Responsibility (Gem, 1981) moved towards a more polite
approach but
Endangered Species (Gem, 1982) was the last album of the classic era.
The UK Subs were, first and foremost, a terrific live band.
Flood Of Lies (Fall Out, 1983) basically introduced a brand new group,
no less violent and no less prolific.
Vocalist Charlie Harper and guitarist Nicky Garratt reunited for ther first
time on Killing Time (Fall Out, 1989).
A second reunion of vocalist Charlie Harper, guitarist Nicky Garratt and
bassist Alvin Gibbs yielded Riot,
Quintessentials and Submission (Fall Out, 1999).
