Bare Minimum belong to the deviated, Melvins branch
of Seattle grunge. The slow, minimal, dark tracks of
Bare Minimum (Rx Remedy, 1996) are the best, whereas the
heavy-metal cliche` often backfire.
The four-song EP Night We Streak (Rx Remedy, 1997) shows a stronger
Sonic Youth influence, especially the
repetitive, atonal work out of Brian Speckman and Mark Pinkos' twin guitars.
Rhythm is still lethargic and largely predictable.
Bare Minimum delves into math-rock with
Can't Cure The Nailbiters (Rx Remedy, 1998).
Structure and texture prevail over melody. Songs' identities mutate slowly.
Their best moments (Luchuk) sound like an intriguing marriage of
Slint and Codeine.

Sonic
Youth, soprattutto per il ripetitivo e atonale lavoro chitarristico

Speckman e Mark Pinkos. La ritmica e` ancora letargica e ampiamente
prevedibile.
I Bare Minimum
rispolverano il
math-rock con Can’t cure the nailbiters (Rx Remedy 1998).
La struttura e
la tessitura prevalgono sulla melodia. L’identita` di ogni brano
cambia
lentamente. I momenti migliori (Luchuk) suonano come un
intrigante
incrocio fra Slint e
Codeine.
