Marc Cohn is a songwriter from Cleveland (Ohio),
a noble storyteller in the tradition
of country singers, but with the rebel attitude of Jesse Winchester and the
intellectual posture of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor.
Marc Cohn (Atlantic, 1991) yielded the hit
Walking In Memphis, and
The Rainy Season (Atlantic, 1993)
was a decent follow-up, but Cohn stumbled into personal problems and left
the scenes for four years.
Burning The Daze (Atlantic, 1998) presents a mature man who loves
to replay the past and mourn his childhood
(Already Home, Lost You In The Canyon), but has little
musical to say.
After the single Listening To Levon (2007), Cohn released
Listening Booth 1970 (2010), a collection of covers.
