Philadelphia's instrumental trio Stinking Lizaveta
(brothers Yanni and Alexi Papadopoulos and female drummer Cheshire Agusta)
pretty much defined the
subgenre of doom-jazz (a hybrid of prog-metal, post-rock and acid-rock)
on five Steve Albini-produced albums:
Hopelessness And Shame (1996),
Slaughterhouse (1997), possibly the best one,
III (2001),
Caught Between Worlds (2004),
Scream Of The Iron Iconoclast (2007).
Sacrifice And Bliss (2009) was perhaps a bit heavier, but fundamentally
more of the same.
