Tight Bro's From Way Back When (from Olympia, Washington) are a satanic bunch who play raw, fast, loud garage-rock. They found a common ground between AC/DC and MC5 with their debut EP, Take You Higher (Kill Rock Stars, 1998), that coupled the monster metal grooves of Take You Higher and Chicken Little Lied with the blues-rock excrements Runnin Thru My Bones and I'm In LucK. Only the Hellacopters, at the other side of the world, can match this reckless fury.

Their Runnin Thru My Bones (Kill Rock Stars, 1999) is nothing but a manic exploration of that theme. Combining the hoarse shout of Jared Warren (a former Karp), a terrifying rhythm section and a dirty, southern-style two-guitar attack, the band gallops through nostalgic sketches like Hayseed Rock and Strut (quoting freely from Gene Vincent's Be Bop A Lula), and delve into feverish, breathless rock and roll numbers like Gimme Luv (basically, a spastic version of Led Zeppelin' Communication Breakdown) and Witchy Potion; but mostly their rave-ups are so spasmodic that they lack musical dimension: Hurricane, Drop To My Knees and Rip It Up simply scream and pound and scratch.

Lend You a Hand (Kill Rock Stars, 2002) is another short, supercharged set of rave-ups (Make It A Habit).
